Morning folks, sorry for not posting anything about this game, this weekend as promised, but due to a sudden intervention/polterabend, the review had to wait.

Natural Selection 2 is an immersive, multiplayer shooter that gives you aliens against humans in a strategic and action-packed struggle for survival. It combines FPS and RTS/strategy gameplay.

Just like the first Natural Selection game, its the aliens vs humans, capture the point/flag, deathmatch game. I was a fan of the first one but I havent played that much of the 2nd. Why? Well time and lack of other friends playing. It a great game to where you can easily join another mp session in progress. But due to the point that one of the players need to a commander, orders and voice communication are importent. Yes the game has some orders which you throw at people as waypoints and that is a must, seeing it will give extra points. If you play your regular soldier fighting against the aliens, then you can shout out to the one playing the commander to request buildings, powers, defense/aid. Your role as a soldier is to fight, shoot and capture. Build the blueprints your commander throws down, stay alive to get most points so you can buy the armor, upgrades even weapons your commander has available for you.

Soldier Gameplay

Next up the commander. If you’re not that great at fps, but you’re the king when it comes to RTS. (real time strategy)Then you should choose the role of the commander. You do that by entering the chosen race you want to play, then you find the “command” box/locker room. Its yeah.. you go into that and then it closes and you can see the map, with fog of war on ofc, from birdsview. You give orders to the other players so you can get to the harvesting notes, just like all other RTS games. When you’ve located those you throw down the blueprint and then the soldiers, other players, need to hit it with their wrench or building/crafting tool. The resources are needed for bigger buildings, research, weapons. If you’re a shark to rts, then you will notice what aliens the opponent is playing and can change your strategy to that, choose the correct weapon and armor for your men so they stand a chance against the skulkds fx.

When you’ve gotten enough resources you can start crafting the bigger things. Research your way to the top and boom MECH-Armor for some of the soldiers, ofcause not everyone can get it. You need money for it. Give your men orders, help them against bigger enemies. Afterall the bigger the better the loot, or is that more to Dungeons and Dragons? Oh well.. You get the point..

Commander Gameplay

When I started this games, I had hoped for long fights so that everyone would get a chance to get the mech armor or at least some awesome weapon. But the games I’ve played so far always ended quickly due to afk commander or “oooop” internet break down. Its not a game I’m given up on yet, its great for some hours of play its diffrent which makes it good but not great. Hoped you all enjoyed this weekend on Steam, else wait for another discount.

If you should get bored of the games boring looks, you can add stuff to your game through Steam Workshop, its gives the game more kick and playable for longer time.

Thanks for reading through this somewhat fast talk about the game.

See you out there
